Patrol Ride Along and Force Options Simulator Programs

The purpose of the Pittsburg Police Department Ride Along Program is to encourage community involvement in law enforcement, and to educate the public by opening lines of communication between the community and police. For potential recruits, the Ride Along Program promotes a better understanding of the challenges, risks and rewards of the police officer's job. The Pittsburg Police Department encourages community involvement in the law enforcement process and allows interested residents and students to ride as passenger observers with patrol officers.

The Pittsburg Police Department has expanded its Patrol Ride Along Program to also include the Force Options Simulator, which is located at the Police Department. Eligible residents can choose to participate in a Ride Along, Force Options Simulator experience, or both. For those interested in experiencing both options, separate appointments will be necessary to accommodate scheduling.

Application Procedure

All residents wishing to participate in the Ride Along Program or the Force Options Simulator must be at least 18 years of age (15 years of age with guardian consent), and must complete the Ride Along Program application in its entirety.

Completed applications can be scanned and emailed to: pgaler@pittsburgca.gov, or mailed to: Pittsburg Police Department, Attn: Ride Along Program, 65 Civic Ave, Pittsburg, CA 94565.
