The Community Advisory Commission (CAC) is an advisory body appointed by the City Council to provide information to the Council concerning quality of life issues for Pittsburg residents. The CAC also reviews and provides input to the City Council regarding public interest, traffic, and recreation issues.

The CAC is a direct result of the impact of the Pittsburg Model Cities Program, which began in 1969. In September 1974, the Model Cities Commission was disbanded and replaced by the Community Advisory Commission.

The Community Advisory Commission (CAC) provides input and makes recommendations to the City Council on issues that impact the Community. Since 1974, the CAC has made recommendations to the City Council on federally-funded projects totaling $18 million. The CAC has also helped residents with concerns that range from neighborhood appearance to traffic hazards.

One of the key goals of the CAC is Community Outreach and improving the channel of communications between citizens and the city government. We feel your comments lay the foundation in our mission to improve the quality of life in the City of Pittsburg. The commission supports the Neighborhood Watch program and CERT emergency preparedness training in our City, and is particularly concerned with traffic, parks and recreation programs available to the community.
