On June 5, 2017, the Pittsburg City Council adopted Resolution 17-13321; electing to join MCE Clean Energy, a “Community Choice Aggregation” energy program administer, which offers local governments and their residents and businesses a choice in regards to their energy provider and what fuel type of energy they choose to receive. Community Choice Aggregation is specific to customer energy generation options. The local electric utility, PG&E, will continue to provide energy delivery, metering and billing services as before.

MCE currently offers a default option of 50% renewable energy and an “opt-up” option of 100% renewable energy. California law gives ratepayers the option to opt-out of MCE and return to PG&E energy service if desired.
