The City of Pittsburg and Shimonoseki City, Japan are celebrating 20 years of their sister city relationship. 

On August 1, 2018, the City of Pittsburg welcomed a delegation that included Tsuyoshi Kanda, Deputy Director of International Affairs; Akiko Nohno, teacher at Kogyagawa Junior High; and 8 junior students.

On August 22, 2018, the City of Pittsburg sent a delegation consisting of Pittsburg Unified School District Superintendent, Dr. Janet Schulze; Rancho Medanos Junior High Principal, Eric Peyko; Pittsburg Police Officer Timothy Manly-Williams; and 5 students from Pittsburg High School.
