The Pink Patch Project (#PinkPatchProject) is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.
It is estimated that approximately 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1,000 men, will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. This disease can have a profound impact on the patient and their loved ones. In many cases, it can be effectively treated with surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy and chemotherapy.
During the month of October, you may see our police officers wearing this same pink patch on their uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness. You can help the cause by purchasing a pink Pittsburg Police Department patch for $10. Profits from patch sales will benefit the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, a foundation selected by a Pittsburg Officer's wife who is a breast cancer survivor. The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade supports awareness and education, screening and diagnosis, access to care, support services and scientific research.
Pink patches are available to purchase at the Pittsburg Police Department, Monday thru Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or via US Mail sent to: Pittsburg Police Department, 65 Civic Avenue, Pittsburg, CA 94565, Attn: Lisa Thompson.
At this time we are unable to accept credit cards; however, exact cash or check made payable to the Pittsburg Police Activities League are accepted. Quantities are limited, so don't miss out!
