CHAMPIONSHIP DINNER

The California Zinfandel Championship is returning for its 20th year!

This year, the Championship is presented by the Pittsburg Arts & Community Foundation and Dinner hosted by Discovery Homes. Every Zinfandel producer in California is once again invited to participate. The list of producers is derived from wineries reviewed in popular magazines and from information about producers listed in “Wines and Vines” Magazine.

Wines entered will be given the distinction of Bronze, Silver, Gold and Double Gold during a blind tasting to be held on July 19, 2016 by a panel of well known wine connoisseurs and vintners led by Wilfred Wong of Wine.com. Their selections will lead up to the final Grand Championship tasting. In addition, the judges will bestow the “Best Buy” award to quality Zinfandels priced at $15 and under.

The Double Gold Medalists and the Grand Championship will be awarded on September 9, 2016 during the gourmet dinner affair at Plaza Marina Green at 51 Marina Boulevard, Pittsburg, CA. The four wineries earning Double Gold honors are invited to attend the dinner and receive their awards in person. On that evening, the judges are served the four wines in a final round of blind tastings and the Grand Champion is awarded.
