Contra Costa Cooling Resources for People Experiencing Homelessness

The National Weather Service has forecasted high temperatures in the coming days.

Please see below for additional resources for people experiencing homelessness who may need extra support during the intense heat wave expected over the next few days.

CORE Outreach 

CORE outreach will be bringing on additional teams this weekend to provide usual services including water distribution and general wellness checks (while of course keeping themselves as safe as possible!). 

  • To connect with a CORE mobile outreach team, call 211 and press 3 to connected to dispatch. 
  • CORE is not a crisis response service. If someone is experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911. 

 

 Warming/Cooling Center Evening Programs

 

Greater Richmond Interfaith Program (GRIP),165 22nd Street, Richmond

  • For evening Warming/Cooling Center program, walk into CARE Center during CARE Center hours:
  • Monday-Friday: 9 am - 3 pm
  • Saturday/Sunday: 8 am - 2 pm

 

  • After business hours, call CORE mobile outreach. To connect to a CORE mobile outreach team, call 211 and press 3 to connected to dispatch. 

 

 

Concord Evening Warming/Cooling Center

[Increasing cots at Concord Overnight Warming Center from 16-22 beds through 7/15]

 

  • To ask about beds at the Concord Warming Center, call 211 and press 3 to connected to CORE mobile outreach dispatch.
  • CORE is not a crisis response service. If someone is experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911. 

 

Daytime Drop-In Sites For People Experiencing Homelessness

 

Concord Service Center, 2047 Arnold Industrial Way, Concord

[ Increasing capacity at Concord Service Center from 12 to 16 clients through 7/15]

  • Seven days a week, 8 am - 4pm
  • Services: Basic needs (meals, bathrooms, mail, laundry, showers)

 

Greater Richmond Interfaith Program (GRIP)

  • Monday-Friday: 9 am - 3 pm
  • Saturday-Sunday: 8 am – 2 pm

Services:

  • Basic needs (meals, bathrooms, mail, laundry, showers)
  • Case management

 

Trinity Center [NOTE: not open Thursday 7/4]

1888 Trinity Ave, Walnut Creek

  • Monday-Friday: 8 am-4 pm

Services:

  • Basic needs (meals, bathrooms, mail, laundry, showers)
  • Case management
  • Adults only

 

Mobile Shower Programs Central/East

The Bay Church Clean Start Shower program

  • Tuesday from 10AM - 12:30PM at 204 Bailey Road, Bay Point
  • Friday from 9AM - 12:30PM, 360 Ferry Street, Martinez
  • Saturday from 10AM - 12:30PM 2210 Gladstone Street, Pittsburg

 

They will also offer

  • Extra water bottles and beverages in ice coolers
  • Cold showers
  • Misters on the canopies

 

East

SHARE Community Mobile Shower program

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00am-1:00pm (arrive early - space is limited) at Community Outreach Center, 525 E 18th St, Antioch (right next to the Dairy Queen)

 

West

SOS Richmond Shower Power program

  • Monday and Friday, 9:30am - 12:30pm SOS Yard, 410 South 2nd St. Richmond
  • Tuesday, 2pm Reentry Success Center, Harbour Way & Macdonald, Richmond
  • Saturday, 10:30am Greenway & San Pablo Ave, Richmond
  • Saturday, 2pm Central Avenue, near I-80 on Rydin, Richmond
  • Sunday, 2:30pm Millo Foundation, Gerrard & Canal, Richmond
