Make a Splash and join the fun! Pittsburg Summer Reads Launches TODAY!

The Pittsburg Arts and Community Foundation and the Pittsburg Library have partnered to create a CITY-WIDE summer reading program entitled Pittsburg Summer Reads.  (Click here for an information flyer.)  Pittsburg Summer Reads is for the whole family! Moms, dads, babies, kids, and even grandparents are encouraged to join the fun!

Here’s How you can Join the fun!

1. Pick up your FREE book and reading log at the Farmers Market or the Pittsburg Library beginning on June 12th (while supplies last).

2. READ! Then turn in your reading log at the Library to win exciting prizes and to earn your free silicone wristband that can be redeemed for valuable offers from local Pittsburg businesses.

3. Visit our website (www.PittsburgSummerReads.com) to learn about our FREE events, books, sponsors, and more! The website will launch mid-June.

Rewards and excitement await!

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, including the Rotary, Siroptomist, and Kiwanis clubs of Pittsburg, the Pittsburg Golf Course, Marc & Dana Grisham, and our local businesses listed below, we have tons of prizes and rewards to offer Pittsburg Summer Reads finishers. These include, but are not limited to:

· 150 pairs of Oakland A’s tickets will be given away to the first 150 kids who turn in their reading log!

· A Baskin Robins Ice Cream scoop will be given to every finisher!

· All finishers will be entered to win great Delta Discovery Cruises Brunch Tickets, an iPod Touch from Best Buy, a gift basket from Home Depot and more!

· Blue Pittsburg Summer Reads silicone wristbands will be given to all finishers! Wristband wearers can redeem Wristband Rewards from a growing list of participating local businesses. These include free deserts with the purchase of two dinners at La Veranda, half-off your second smoothie at Steeltown Coffee, a free 8x10 inch portrait with the purchase of a portrait package from Perfect Portraits Express, $3 off a kids cut/ $5 off an adult cut at Coats Barber Shop, and many more!

Please make a splash for literacy and join us as we promote active minds over the summer break, foster an appreciation of literature, triple our summer reading participation, and build a strong, cohesive, and literate community.
