Pittsburg Unified School District Hosts Community Resource Fair and State of the District Address

Saturday, October 21, 2023…PITTSBURG, CA – Pittsburg Unified School District (PUSD) is excited to announce the upcoming Community Resource Fair, a dynamic event aimed at connecting families with vital local organizations and support services. The fair will also feature a State of the District Address by Superintendent Janet Schulze, highlighting key aspects of the PUSD's progress, priorities, and opportunities for involvement.

WHEN: Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 9:00am – 1:00pm

WHAT: Pittsburg Unified School District’s State of the District Address and Community Resource Fair

WHERE: 

  • State of the District Address at 9AM: Creative Arts Building, 285 School St, Pittsburg, CA 94565
  • Community Resource Fair: 9AM-1PM Pittsburg High School Quad, 1750 Harbor St, Pittsburg, CA 94565

 Interviews with Superintendent Janet Schulze and representatives from participating organizations can be prearranged upon request. This event promises a day of community empowerment, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue, aiming to reinforce the relationships that make Pittsburg Unified School District (PUSD) a vibrant and supportive educational community. The State of the District Address by Superintendent Janet Schulze will provide updates on school enrollment, district priority areas, budget transparency, and exciting highlights about the construction of new schools and facility improvements. The address will emphasize the district’s initiatives for educational growth and development.

The Community Resource Fair is an event dedicated to connecting PUSD families with vital resources and support services.

  • Immigration Resources: Attendees can take advantage of free immigration consultations provided by Stand Together Contra Costa, where legal professionals will offer valuable guidance on immigration-related matters.
  • Government Assistance Resources: Representatives will be available to help individuals apply for Medical, Covered CA, and CalFresh programs.
  • Children Under Five: Parents with children aged 5 and younger are encouraged to schedule appointments with First 5 for supporting early childhood development.
  • Specialized Support: For families with scholars on Individualized Education Programs (IEP), appointments can be made with the Regional Center and Care Parent Network, offering specialized support tailored to their needs.
  • Volunteer Sign-Up and Clearance: Parents and/or caring adults interested in volunteering at their child’s school can receive assistance with applications and fingerprinting through the BAM (Be A Mentor) program.
  • Food: Dulce's Antojitos will be providing taco dinners and aguas frescas to the first 400 attendees
